Nice to hear that you paint also! I'd love it if you would be comfortable posting some of your work into your profile... always nice to see what people are doing that way.

I'm not set up to paint right now, although I'm trying to find the space for it. Oh, for the days when I could paint or read for hours and weeks on end! Now I find whatever way I can to express myself freely and creatively, which is where writing has come in these past couple of years.

The art of life is always a work in progress!

I looked at a couple of you postings. I am sorry I missed them, they were good topics. I would like to see you revisit you topic of early childhood education. I think that there are some underlying pricinples to what you say that could be expanded to all concerned.

I am not sure what comments of mine you are referring to; I think it is important to see it in the context of the conversation. That way I can better understand how it fit. If you can give me a link to the comments that triggered you ping I would appreciate it.
Without that I will offer a few question or criteria to consider; for a drug/chemical for personal the FDA has established rules and criteria, why shouldn’t a recreational drug meet the same criteria? With legitimate drugs or alcohol there is an accepted dosage and with that dosage there is a means to detect associated blood levels relative to the nature of the drug used, i.e. alcohol has an established level with an established testing method (breathalyzer), why shouldn’t an equivalent blood level and testing method be established for recreational drugs?, whether it is a drug or alcohol there are recognized consequences of excessive use (immediate and long-term) with legal penalties for immediate overdosing (about legal limits), why shouldn’t that also be the case for use exceeding the legal limits on recreational drugs?
As for “pulling the rug out”, I feel that by doing the same things and expecting different results is at best foolish. I strongly believe that there needs to be a significant change is the approach used to address recreational drugs. I would like to see an organizational approach much like a company facing failure would do to save the business. In this case the business service is elimination of the damage to the society and public.
I am not sure if this is what you were looking for. I do think it would be a good article at a minimum for Gather and even better for a public debate.
